Preparedness Skill-Building

These resources offer classes, workshops, and learning tools to help individuals and families build emergency skills online, in person, or at their own pace.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, supported by FEMA, trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, disaster medical operations, and team coordination. CERT helps community members safely assist their neighbors during emergencies until professional responders arrive. In the Rochester area, CERT trainings are offered periodically through the City of Rochester Fire Department.

Safety Team Solutions

Safety Team Solutions provides accessible CPR, AED, First Aid, Safe Sitter, and pet first aid training for individuals, families, workplaces, and community groups. Their courses are designed to build real-world confidence in emergencies.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross offers a range of online courses covering first aid, CPR, AED use, and emergency preparedness. These self-paced trainings are designed to help individuals build lifesaving skills and better prepare for emergencies from the convenience of home.

Bunker Not Required

Bunker Not Required offers approachable emergency preparedness workshops that help individuals, households, and communities plan for emergencies big and small. Their training focuses on holistic preparedness, community resilience, and realistic planning for “3 bad days, 3 bad weeks, and 3 bad months.”
