1. About Ready Rochester
Ready Rochester, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that strengthens community resilience by providing preparedness education, resources, events, and training opportunities.
We may organize programs directly or work with instructors, first responders, government agencies, community organizations, venues, and other training partners.
2. Educational Information Only
The information provided through our website, emails, publications, presentations, events, trainings, social media accounts, and other materials is intended for general educational and informational purposes.
Ready Rochester does not provide medical, legal, financial, mental health, engineering, emergency management, public safety, or other professional advice. Our information and trainings are not a replacement for advice, evaluation, instruction, or services from a qualified professional.
You are responsible for evaluating information based on your own circumstances and consulting an appropriate professional when necessary.
In an emergency, call 911 or contact the appropriate emergency service. Do not rely on the Ready Rochester website, social media accounts, email, or volunteers for immediate emergency assistance.
3. Accuracy of Information
Ready Rochester makes reasonable efforts to provide useful and accurate information. However, emergency preparedness guidance, public safety recommendations, laws, standards, local resources, contact information, and best practices may change.
We do not guarantee that all information will always be complete, current, error-free, or appropriate for every person or situation.
You are responsible for confirming important information with qualified professionals, government agencies, product manufacturers, emergency services, or other authoritative sources before acting on it.
4. Training Partners and Guest Instructors
Ready Rochester may host, coordinate, promote, or help facilitate events and trainings delivered by independent instructors, public agencies, first responders, nonprofit organizations, businesses, venues, or other partners.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, these individuals and organizations are independent parties and are not employees or agents of Ready Rochester. Their statements, demonstrations, recommendations, and materials may reflect their own knowledge, experience, policies, and opinions.
Ready Rochester does not control every statement or action of a training partner and does not guarantee:
- The completeness or accuracy of information provided by a third-party instructor
- That a training will meet every participant’s needs
- That attendance will result in a professional license, qualification, certification, or particular level of competency
- That every technique demonstrated will be appropriate in every emergency or situation
Questions concerning an instructor’s qualifications, course certification, continuing education credit, or professional requirements should be directed to the applicable training provider.
5. Participation at Your Own Risk
Participation in all Ready Rochester events, trainings, demonstrations, exercises, volunteer activities, and related programs is voluntary and undertaken at the participant’s own risk.
Depending on the program, activities may include physical movement, kneeling, lifting, handling equipment, practicing first aid techniques, participating in simulated emergencies, working indoors or outdoors, consuming food, or interacting with other participants.
Risks may include, but are not limited to:
- Slips, trips, falls, or other physical injuries
- Muscle strain or discomfort from physical activities
- Contact with training equipment, materials, or other participants
- Allergic reactions, illness, or exposure to communicable diseases
- Emotional discomfort associated with emergency scenarios
- Loss of or damage to personal property
- Risks associated with transportation, parking, weather, facilities, or third-party venues
By participating, you acknowledge that these and other risks may exist. You accept responsibility for determining whether an activity is appropriate for you and for participating within your own abilities and limitations.
6. Participant Responsibilities
Participants are expected to:
- Follow instructions provided by Ready Rochester representatives, instructors, venue staff, and emergency personnel
- Use equipment only as directed
- Avoid disruptive, unsafe, threatening, discriminatory, or unlawful behavior
- Inform an instructor when they cannot safely participate in an activity
- Request reasonable accommodations as early as possible
- Take appropriate precautions based on their health, mobility, allergies, experience, and personal circumstances
- Supervise any minor attending under their care
Ready Rochester may limit or end a person’s participation when reasonably necessary to protect participants, instructors, volunteers, property, or the orderly operation of an event.
7. Health and Medical Considerations
You are responsible for considering your own health and physical condition before participating in an activity.
Ready Rochester representatives and volunteers generally cannot evaluate whether participation is medically appropriate for you. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before participating when you have a medical condition, injury, disability, pregnancy, allergy, or other concern that could affect your participation.
The presence of first responders, healthcare professionals, or trained instructors at an event does not create an ongoing healthcare provider-patient relationship.
8. Minors
A parent or legal guardian is responsible for deciding whether an event or activity is appropriate for a minor.
Minors must be accompanied or supervised as required by the specific program, venue, or training provider. Additional parental consent or participant forms may be required.
These website Terms are not intended to replace any program-specific parental consent, medical authorization, or participant agreement.
9. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ready Rochester, Inc. and its directors, officers, volunteers, representatives, and affiliates will not be liable for injury, illness, death, property damage, loss, expense, or other harm arising from:
- Ordinary and inherent risks associated with voluntary participation
- A participant’s failure to follow instructions
- Improper use of information, techniques, materials, or equipment
- The conduct or omissions of another participant
- The conduct, statements, information, or services of an independent instructor, partner, venue, vendor, or other third party
- Conditions outside Ready Rochester’s reasonable control, including weather, transportation disruptions, facility conditions, public emergencies, or event cancellations
- Reliance on website content or general educational materials as a substitute for professional advice
Ready Rochester is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from the use of our website, information, services, or programs.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to waive or limit a right or liability that cannot legally be waived or limited, including liability arising from gross negligence, reckless conduct, or intentional misconduct where applicable law prohibits such a limitation.
10. Additional Event Agreements
Certain events, trainings, venues, or partner organizations may require participants to sign a separate waiver, release, consent form, code of conduct, photography release, or registration agreement.
Those documents apply in addition to these Terms. When there is a conflict, the more specific event agreement will generally govern the applicable event, subject to applicable law.
11. Event Changes and Cancellations
Ready Rochester may modify, postpone, relocate, reschedule, or cancel an event because of weather, instructor availability, venue issues, public safety concerns, low enrollment, emergencies, or other circumstances.
We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered participants using the contact information provided during registration. We are not responsible for travel expenses, lost wages, childcare expenses, or other costs incurred because of an event change or cancellation.
Any refund policy for a paid event will be stated on the applicable registration page.
12. Website Availability
We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Ready Rochester website or its content at any time.
We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, secure, uninterrupted, or free from technical errors, viruses, or other harmful components. You are responsible for using reasonable security precautions when accessing websites or downloading materials.
13. Acceptable Use
You may not use the Ready Rochester website to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website or related systems
- Distribute malicious software or interfere with website operation

These links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily represent an endorsement. Ready Rochester does not control and is not responsible for third-party websites, privacy practices, security, availability, information, products, or services.
Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s own terms and policies.
16. Donations and Payments
Donations support Ready Rochester’s charitable mission and programs. Unless otherwise required by law or approved because of a processing error, donations are generally nonrefundable.
Third-party payment processors may collect and process payment information. Ready Rochester does not directly control those providers’ systems or privacy practices.
Nothing on our website constitutes tax, financial, or legal advice. Donors should consult a qualified professional regarding their individual tax circumstances.
17. Email and Newsletter Communications
You will receive Ready Rochester marketing or newsletter emails only when you subscribe, register in a manner that includes appropriate consent, or otherwise request those communications.
