READY ROCHESTER
Built by neighbors. Strengthened through community.
Ready Rochester is a 501c(3) non-profit focused on building community resilience through preparedness education, volunteer response, and helping Rochester residents feel more confident before emergencies happen.
Our Story
Ready Rochester was founded by former Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) graduates who experienced firsthand how valuable preparedness training can be.
It began with a simple idea: we did not want the CERT experience to end when the course did.
We saw how impactful the training was in building skills, confidence, and connection. We also recognized that more people in Rochester should have access to that same experience.
So we set out to keep the momentum going.
Today, Ready Rochester supports and expands preparedness education across the community by helping residents discover training opportunities, stay engaged, and feel more confident before emergencies happen.
Because preparedness is not a one time event.
It is something we build together.

Our Mission
Our goal is simple: help people feel more confident and capable before emergencies happen. Through education, partnerships, and volunteer engagement, we work to make preparedness accessible and realistic for everyone.
Ready Rochester focuses on providing clear, practical preparedness information while supporting volunteer response programs that strengthen local emergency readiness.

Why This Matters
Emergencies don’t just affect infrastructure, they affect people, neighborhoods, and the ability of communities to help one another.
When more residents understand basic preparedness and response skills, communities are better able to handle disruptions, support vulnerable neighbors, and recover more quickly when unexpected events occur.
Supporting Community Preparedness
Prepared communities are built through awareness, training, and collaboration. Ready Rochester works to support preparedness in several ways:
- Promoting preparedness education and practical emergency planning
- Supporting volunteer training programs such as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
- Connecting residents with local preparedness resources
- Encouraging neighbor-to-neighbor support during emergencies
- Partnering with local organizations and agencies to expand preparedness outreach
By helping more people understand how to prepare and respond safely, we contribute to a stronger and more resilient Rochester.
